Meet the Directors

As camp directors, we understand the power of camp. Days are filled with fun and personal growth. You are trusting us with your child, and it is our mission to provide our campers with the best experiences possible!

We’re On a Mission!

We get up in the morning because we know that our work matters. You are trusting us with your child, and we want to bless your child — through PHUN!, relationships, and the real spiritual impact that comes from heartfelt encouragement.

Christine and her three children (Katie, Annabelle and Mac) continue the legacy of this family-run Camp that, since its 1993 inception, has provided a blend of activities that are both educational and fun. A graduate of Southern Methodist University and Ursuline Academy in Dallas, Christine is actively involved in every facet of Camp.

Christine helps with counselor recruitment from colleges and universities in addition to adding her energy and talents to all activity and event programming at Camp Balcones Springs. Further, she helps to plan camper recruiting events throughout Texas and beyond. Christine also owns and operates The Retreat at Balcones Springs, which utilizes Camp’s facilities in the off-season and makes possible some of Camp’s most desirable features, like air-conditioned cabins. Christine’s vision is to create an experience for campers that they simply cannot find anywhere else.

Please email Christine for any questions about sending your children to camp:

Christine, your passion for what you do at CBS and for CBS is reflected in our children. I’m sure there must be times that you doubt what you are doing but I hope you will continue on. CBS is a special little place and has so much to offer children… especially these days. I can’t thank you and your staff enough for the gifts and values you have given our precious children. I hope that CBS continues to grow and is successful. We will always be there to help make that happen in any way we can. Please don’t hesitate to ask.

Cate Pal-Freeman

Girls Camp Director

Cate has been a part of the Camp Balcones Springs Family since Summer 2020, holding the position of Girls Camp Director seasonally for the past two summers. Now, as a recent graduate of the University of Redlands in California, Cate has joined our full-time camp team and is continuing her role as Girls Camp Director.

Falling in love with camp happened immediately for Cate during her very first summer as a counselor, and since then, working with all of our wonderful campers and counselors to create irreplaceable memories has been one of her greatest joys. Whether it’s throwing impromptu dance parties at Oasis or tackling a case of missing home, Cate loves being present and building long-lasting relationships with all of our campers and staff here at CBS.
