Hello Camp Balcones Springs Families!

Wow – what a truly unbelievable time we are living in. We could have never imagined that our first CBS blog post of 2020 would be written to you from quarantine, the new normal in which we face unprecedented changes to our daily lives and look ahead to summer with so much uncertainty.

All of us here at camp remain safe and healthy, isolated together with the backdrop of camp as our playground. We’re all extremely thankful to be able to isolate together, in the company of friends and co-workers and in the beautiful Hill Country. Having access to so much nature in quarantine isn’t the norm, so for this, we are so grateful!

We continue to hope and pray you and your families remain healthy and safe. Despite the many challenges and inconveniences of this time, we can’t help but think it’s presenting a unique opportunity for families to spend quality time together. When else will both campers and parents ever have so much downtime to spend together? We hope that for many of you, this small blessing has proven to be an unexpected gift during these difficult times.

At camp, we are busy preparing for all possible scenarios this summer. We’ve got so many new programs, buildings, and offerings for Camp 2020, and we continue to get excited for them, even if we have to wait a little longer to enjoy them together. As we’ve written in our recent emails to all of our camp families, we are evaluating the Covid-19 situation on a daily basis and will communicate as soon as any new decisions regarding Summer 2020 are made. Please continue to trust that all decisions we make will be in the best interest of the health and safety of our campers and staff.

Be sure to send us your favorite quarantine activities and any new pastimes you’ve come up with during your time at home. We’ve been busy playing some of our camp favorites – we just had an all-staff O-Ball game on our covered tennis courts! We’re currently accepting bets on which CBS team will win the next round.

Stay safe, and, remember, Camp Balcones Springs continues to be the place for me, you, and all of us, even when we’re far apart.
