Wednesday evening, we celebrated the most coveted CBS event of all – the Music Video Awards!

During Term 3, our only three-week term, every cabin works together to brainstorm, write, direct, and film their own music video. Campers and counselors select a song and come up with a creative storyline to go along with the music. Our talented camp videographers work hard to edit the videos according to each cabin’s creative direction. Then, the videos are viewed and judged by our Leadership and full-time teams. On the night of the MVAs, cabins get dressed up for the CBS red carpet and are escorted to our Rio Grande Dining Hall via our “limo” shuttle service. When campers exit their vehicles, they are greeted by swarms of adoring CBS fans asking for autographs. Once everyone arrives in the Dining Hall, we enjoy appetizers and treats and then learn the big winners of the night. Just like any awards show, our presenters are a cast of famous characters, cracking jokes and making the evening an event not to be missed!

This year, we added to the fun by creating a special CBS “mocktail” bar near the red carpet. We served fun, camp-inspired beverages like “The Grode Pond” and “The Recharge.”

Without further ado, here are this year’s winners!

On another note, this week, the Senior Camper boys also had the special opportunity to work with camp Chef Rene to learn more about the scone-making process. Chef Rene helped the boys try out the same scone recipe but experiment with different dairy products to compare the results. The chef also explained the science of scones and how they get their unique texture. The Senior Campers were all excellent students, and our chef was very impressed! Not to mention the scones looked (and tasted) delicious.
