Kicking Off Summer 2023 with First Term!

Summer 2023 at Camp Balcones Springs has kicked off with a bang with our first term campers! On Sunday night, we began camp with our classic camp tradition – team initiation – where old campers put on their red, green, purple, or blue to welcome rookies into the CBS fold as Texas Rangers, Rough Riders, Silver Spurs, or Texas Rangers.

On Monday, young and old campers dove right into their activity schedules, with a few highlights being sushi-making in Cooking Class, pickleball, and skiing/tubing on Lake Travis. Some of our elementary school girl campers helped freshen and beautify our camp dog matriarch, Lola, and she’s never looked happier.

Tuesday night was Compound Night where boy campers and girl campers got to know their respective age groups through PHUN programming, like an epic water balloon fight for our younger boys, Camp Casino Night for our middle school girls, and a camp version of CLUE for our high school campers on Work Crew.

Today, our elementary-aged boy campers crushed their cabin clean up with an A+ score, and you know what that means? An exclusive BEACH LUNCH with delicious Balcones Mint Breezes and Paninis with their cabinmates!

Our brand new pool was completed today and boys and girls will be taking their first dip tomorrow!

And finally, we’re bringing the Big Easy to camp this summer for the first time with MARDI GRAS NIGHT. Our camp puppy and New Orleans native, Lettie, is already flaunting her Mardi Gras look and will be leading the Second Line Parade across camp this evening.
