This term’s Boys’ Cookout was especially special because it was held at our brand new Papa’s Pool! Boy campers enjoyed all-beef hot dogs and the new cook-out favorite, grilled pita pizzas. As always, the real thrill came from our legendary chili cook-off. This year, the boys got creative with their chili recipes, selecting from an array of ingredients and some exciting mystery items: hot dog meat, pepperoni, and even caramel sauce! Watching the boys experiment and craft their unique chili concoctions was a true delight. It was an evening full of laughter, delicious food, playful swimming, and unforgettable memories that we’re sure your camper will cherish forever.

Meanwhile, in canoeing and kayaking class, campers learned how to flip and unflip their vessels in pairs. Everyone worked together and eventually got their kayak flipped by at most the fourth attempt. The tricky part, though, was getting back on the vessel once they were already submerged in the water! Once the skill was mastered, all of the campers got to race to the other end of the lake and back.

In Survival Skills, campers have been learning the basics of First Aid, including buddy care and victim transfers to help them stay safe and care for each other when in the wilderness. It is so exciting watching campers learn these skills and feel empowered to know how to get help or assist one another if they ever encounter an emergency in the outdoors.

This week at camp we also transformed the Texas Hill Country to France! From Nutella crepes to a French fry bar to a fully illuminated Eiffel Tower, Paris with a side of CBS felt truly magical! We danced the night away in the GridIron (covered event pavilion) and enjoyed an array of Parisian inspired games like scooter racing in the Olympic Village, mime face painting, mini Eiffel Tower making (with wafer cookies and icing), and even a fear factor challenge with obscure foods you would likely see in a French bistro! Campers entered into the dance area waltzing over the red carpet as they would during fashion week, striking their best looks for paparazzi. A dance circle soon broke out, and it was a truly beautiful night!
