The winners of each game earn their respective teams (Rough Riders and Silver Spurs vs. Texas Rangers and Lone Stars) points toward a head start for our highly anticipated Amazing Race at the end of the term.

Our current team competition score is:

Texas Rangers and Lonestars: 9

Rough Riders and Silver Spurs: 9

And our teams stay tied for the 3rd day of camp!

Featured Activity Highlight - Water Activities on Lake Travis

One of the highlights of camp and THE favorite activity for 34 summers is tubing on beautiful Lake Travis. With its clear water, scenic Hill Country views, and steady breezes, the lake provides the perfect setting for PHUN, skill-building, and unforgettable summer memories. CBS is so very lucky to be located on the far west bend of the lake. We tube, sail, wake-surf and wake-board for hours every day and rarely see another boat!

Comments from Driscoll and Jordan campers yesterday include “awesome” and “ can’t wait to go again” !!!

Sailing

Campers learn the fundamentals of sailing while experiencing the excitement of harnessing the wind to move across the water. Whether they’re stepping onto a sailboat for the first time or building on previous experience, sailing teaches teamwork, confidence, problem-solving, and an appreciation for the outdoors.

Water Skiing & Wake Sports

Few camp experiences compare to the thrill of getting up on skis for the first time. Campers have opportunities to learn wakeboarding and/ or improve their technique, and challenge themselves on the water. These activities help build perseverance, confidence, and resilience while creating plenty of high-fives along the way.

Whether they’re learning a new skill, conquering a challenge, or simply enjoying a sunny afternoon on the water, Lake Travis gives campers the opportunity to create memories that last long after summer ends. 🌊☀️🚤

Evening Program Highlight

Everyone has a little hero inside them, whether it’s Batman saving Gotham, Mr. Rogers changing hearts, or the teacher who declares no homework Fridays! However you define courage, last night, all at CBS grabbed their capes, badges, or everyday clothes and took a walk on the brave side, stepping into the shoes of their heroes. One of the features that makes Camp Balcones Springs so special is our nightly evening programs, especially our dances. Every term, we bring three original and unique themed parties to life, complete with decorations, food and snacks, side games, and most importantly, plenty of dancing.

Last night, we hosted our first theme night of Term 2, “Once Upon a Hero”. Campers came dressed as their heroes, and boy did they impress! We saw superheroes, princesses, nurses, athletes, doctors, celebrities, and even Dolly Parton and the Lorax!

Set at the Thicket and overlooking the lake, the night was full of phun from start to finish. Campers played operation at “CBS Hospital”, scaled their way through a Spider-Man web obstacle course, shot hoops at the “Athletic Hall of Fame”, made felt superhero masks, decorated Nobel Peace Prize cookies, and “dunked” out the fire at our firefighter-themed dunk tank.

We ended the night as campers danced under warm string lights, our very own Gotham City glowing in the background, and a smoke machine setting the scene. Classic camp dances fueled the crowd, with “Cowboy” “Breathe In, Breathe Out” “Church Clap”, and “Firework” drawing campers to the dance floor to show off their super moves!

We cannot wait for your campers to share all the phun they had emulating their heroes, celebrating courage, and saving the dance floor!
