Evening Program Highlight - Movie Night + Mission Impossible

On Tuesday night, our campers settled in for a relaxing evening and a favorite night here at CBS: Movie Night! We laid tarps across the hill by the Meadow, just outside of the Gridiron, and campers set up camp with pillows, blankets, and sleeping bags covering the hillside. Before the movie began, campers enjoyed two camp classic Movie Night skits: “If I Weren’t a CBSer” performed by our Work Crew and “The Movie Theater,” performed by our wonderful counselors!

Then, the tapes rolled and the surprise movie was revealed. This term’s movie was Shrek 2! Campers watched the big screen as the sun set, getting called up cabin by cabin to enjoy popcorn, sodas, and a nacho bar. We even had a special VIP section for Driscoll cabin, who won the prize at Counselor Hunt, complete with red velvet ropes, an inflatable pool, bean bags, and a busboy.

As the movie reached it’s climax and Pinocchio dove into a high-security cell to rescue Shrek, Donkey, and Puss in Boots, Mission Impossible music began playing on screen, heightening the intensity of Pinocchio’s mission. Then, all of the sudden, the lights went out, flashlights strobed across the crowd, and the Mission Impossible music grew louder.

That’s right, it was Mission: Impossible time!

Our campers dashed back to their cabins, threw on their camo garb, and set out around camp to find and capture glow sticks in order to save CBS from invaders! Our winning cabin was Lower Thicket!

After completing their mission, all campers enjoyed ice pops before heading to bed with the promise of a sleep-in day the next morning! A night well spent!
