Every morning after breakfast, our campers start their day off with Team Competition, AKA “Team Comp”. This friendly competition includes games like kickball, mini soccer, O-Ball, Nuke Em, and Steal the Bacon. The winners of each game earn their respective teams (Rough Riders and Silver Spurs vs. Texas Rangers and Lone Stars) points toward a head start for our highly anticipated Amazing Race at the end of the term.
On Thursday, for our second to last full day of the term, our campers competed in Spirit Team Comp in the morning instead of their regular daily team comp. Our sponsors have spent all term planning for Spirit Team Comp, combining, choreographing, and coming up with cheers for three rounds of head to head cheering face off where teams are judged on metrics of energy, spirit, coordination, complexity, and polish.
Highlights of Term 2’s Spirit Team Comp include backflips performed by scampers representing the Texas Rangers, a stunt and basket toss performed by Silver Spur and Rough Rider counselors, and colored powder thrown into the air by both teams in a grand finale.
It was a neck and neck competition, and once our Leadership and Full Time votes were tallied, the Rough Riders and SIlver Spurs won Term 2’s Spirit Team Comp by a narrow margin, earning their team 5 additional points toward the Amazing Race.
Our team competition score going into the Amazing Race is: Texas Rangers and Lonestars: 24 Rough Riders and Silver Spurs: 29
The Rough Riders and Silver Spurs have secured a 5 point lead as we head into the Amazing Race! This means they will have a 5 second head start over the Texas Rangers and Lone Stars going into our Amazing Race!
Water Aerobics is an iconic activity here at CBS! Created for Women’s Fitness major girls, this once-a-term workout is always a coveted favorite. At our seafoam green fitness pool with the sun shining and oak trees providing shade, our Women’s Fitness girls jumped, high kneed, grapevine, and splashed their way through the workout to some songs of the summer! in the water to some songs of the summer! A perfect mix of movement, music, and poolside phun!
For our second to last night at camp, campers enjoyed Cabin Hangout, a special evening planned just for them by their counselors. Cabin Hangout is a time to slow down, spend time with your camp family, and round out the term with the cabinmates and counselors who have made camp feel like home.
The night looks different for every cabin. Our senior campers went tubing on the lake, while other cabins took part in camp-wide scavenger hunts, spa nights, water balloon fights, cooking competitions, slip’n’slides, beach hangouts, bonfires, and more.
No matter the cabin, this term’s Cabin Hangouts were truly something special. Our counselors poured so much time, thought, and creativity into the night, dreaming up detailed and unique experiences to help create lifelong memories for their campers.
After their hangouts, campers headed back to their cabins for a good night’s rest, with one of the biggest events of the term waiting just a few hours away: The Amazing Race!
