We take the 4th of July very seriously here at Camp Balcones Springs! The whole day centers the holiday, including the food your campers ate!
For 4th of July festivities, campers first enjoyed a camp-wide parade during Phunanza. The parade featured golf carts, 4x4 mules, and two trucks and trailers! Each vehicle that came through the route was decked out in streamers, tinsel, ribbon, flags, and more! One of our trailers carried an inflatable kiddy pool from which leadership threw rubber ducks into the crowd, and the other had a pie eating contest aboard! Other float themes included Hamilton, NASA, and the World Cup! The parade even included a tractor flying an American flag, a painted mini horse, and two horses! Every camper walked away with goodies distributed to the crowd and feeling patriotic!
For our main 4th festivities, campers gathered around the baseball field following dinner for a 4th of July bash! One of the big events was our annual Leadership vs. Work Crew kickball game, watched by our campers! We also had a giant inflatable water slide, a watermelon station, bomb pops, an American flag cake, a face paint station, bandana bracelet making, cornhole, and a hair tinsel station!
Following this phun, campers gathered on blankets in the field to watch our Firework show! After the beautiful display, campers headed to bed, content with a full and festive 4th!
