Every morning after breakfast, our campers start their day off with Team Competition, AKA “Team Comp”. This friendly competition includes games like kickball, mini soccer, O-Ball, Nuke Em, and Steal the Bacon. The winners of each game earn their respective teams (Rough Riders and Silver Spurs vs. Texas Rangers and Lone Stars) points toward a head start for our highly anticipated Amazing Race at the end of the term.
Our current team competition score is:
Texas Rangers and Lonestars: 29
Rough Riders and Silver Spurs: 14
And the Texas Rangers and Lonestars continue to stay in the lead!
Jewelry making is one of our most coveted activities here at CBS! Offered as a girls’ major activity, our older campers rave about their time in the class. Run by our very own camp director, Maggie Picket, our jewelry class is the crown jewel of CBS. Jewelry girls make necklaces, rings, and bracelets in various styles, using glass and clay beads, freshwater pearls, and more.
A Greek island dream where Olympus meets ABBA and legends stroll cobblestone streets! Think Aphrodite by the sea, Hercules on holiday, or a full Mamma Mia moment in breezy whites, blues, sparkles, and gold accessories. No matter whether campers came as Greek gods, mythical creatures, or chic island vacationers, we all danced under the Santorini Sunset! Santorini Soiree was undoubtedly a night to never forget here at CBS.
Set at the Grassy Knoll right gridiron, campers arrived to the dance as the sun cast pink and golden hues across the Santorini set. String lights hung overhead alongside disco balls and hanging ribbons of ocean blues. At the edge of the gridiron, a large banner flanked by swooping Mediterranean blue drapery set the backdrop for the night. To the side of the dance, our Santorini cityscape sat, complete with white washed buildings, cerulean blue domed roofs and windows, and Bougainvillea flowers clinging to the structure.
Campers enjoyed grecian orange cake, a build your own evil eye cookie station, mediterranean sea jello, and fresh pita with hummus. They practiced their Apollo-like archery skills with plastic bows, painted paper fans, and jousted on a large inflatable jousting ring. And of course, they danced the night away ABBA style.
As the dance came to a close, campers were directed to head to the soccer field and take a seat on the bleachers. A surprise show was in order! Put on by our full-time and leadership team, the campers watched a 7 minute musical medley complete with costumes, spotlights, and choreography to classic Hercules and Mamma Mia scenes. And to top off the night, as the cast took their final bow, fireworks exploded overhead. What a night!
