Friendly Competition

Every morning after breakfast, our campers start their day off with Team Competition, AKA “Team Comp”. This friendly competition includes games like kickball, mini soccer, O-Ball, Nuke Em, and Steal the Bacon. The winners of each game earn their respective teams (Rough Riders and Silver Spurs vs. Texas Rangers and Lone Stars) points toward a head start for our highly anticipated Amazing Race at the end of the term.

On Thursday, for our second to last full day of the term, our campers competed in Spirit Team Comp in the morning instead of their regular daily team comp. Our sponsors have spent all term planning for Spirit Team Comp, combining, choreographing, and coming up with cheers for three rounds of head to head cheering face off where teams are judged on metrics of energy, spirit, coordination, complexity, and polish.

Highlights of Term 4’s Spirit Team Comp include an appearance from legacy Summer 2000 Silver Spur’s Sponsor, Leadership and Full-Time features, a fake duel, and spray paint-marked territory. It was a neck and neck competition, and once our Leadership and Full Time votes were tallied, the Texas Rangers and Lonestars won Term 4’s Spirit Team Comp by a narrow margin, earning their team an additional 5 points toward the Amazing Race.

Our current team competition score is:

Texas Rangers and Lonestars: 36

Rough Riders and Silver Spurs: 43

The Texas Rangers and Lonestars have solidified their lead over the Silver Spurs and Rough Riders with a 7 point lead, earning themselves a 7 second headstart in our Amazing Race! You’ll have to ask your campers who ends up winning the term!

Featured Activity Highlight - CBS Performing Arts Company

Another feature of camp that makes CBS so special is our Performing Arts Company! We just began rehearsals for our annual term musical. The musical for Term 2 is Seussical the Musical! Campers get the opportunity to try something new or continue to grow their passion for singing and acting. They can either act on stage while learning the power in their own voice, or run the show behind the scenes! They play fun games, learn to embody their characters, and get closer as a cast. Every Camper at Camp Baclones Springs has so much talent and passion just waiting to be unlocked!

Evening Program Highlight - Cabin Hangout

For our second to last night at camp, campers enjoyed Cabin Hangout, a special evening planned just for them by their counselors. Cabin Hangout is a time to slow down, spend time with your camp family, and round out the term with the cabinmates and counselors who have made camp feel like home.

The night looks different for every cabin. Our highschoolers enjoyed a spa “pamper” night and tubing on Lake Travis, while other cabins took part in camp-wide scavenger hunts, water balloon fights, pranks, cooking competitions, slip’n’slides, beach hangouts, bonfires, and more.

No matter the cabin, our Term 4 Cabin Hangouts were truly something special. Our counselors poured so much time, thought, and creativity into the night, dreaming up detailed and unique experiences to help create lifelong memories for their campers.

After their hangouts, campers headed back to their cabins for a good night’s rest, with one of the biggest events of the term waiting just a few hours away: The Amazing Race!
