Christmas in July

Last week, CBS celebrated Christmas in July, a PHUN-filled day of holiday festivities in the slightly less-than-festive Texas heat. The event was brought to life by our High School Programs – specifically the LTs and Work Crew – who spent the days leading up to Christmas brainstorming everything they wanted to do – including a snowball fight at Oasis and the appearance of a rotating cast of iconic Christmas figures, including Santa Claus, the Grinch, and Jack Frost, who would disrupt events all across camp. Camp Olympics!

Greetings from another exciting week of Term 3! This week, we hosted our inaugural Camp Balcones Springs Olympics Games. Campers participated in a variety of age-appropriate events across all of camp, with each cabin competing for prizes. Cabins even decorated their own flags akin to the national flags displayed at the real Olympic Games. We have also been so fortunate this term to have a wonderful group of high school campers in our Senior Camper and LT programs! Weekend Team Competition

July 12, 2021

This weekend we enjoyed some CBS classics! The biggest event of the weekend was Saturday night’s Team Comp game in which the Senior Camper and LT boy campers competed in a basketball game, Texas Rangers versus Rough Riders! The game was close through the third quarter before the Rough Riders were able to eke out a solid victory. The Rough Riders’ win gives their team five points in their overall score for the term, bringing our current standings to Texas Rangers/Lone Stars: 17 and the Rough Riders/Silver Spurs: 15. Term 3 is Here!

Greetings from Term 3! We have had the most dreamy weather at camp. The days have been a cool and breezy 85 degrees accompanied by peaceful afternoon rains. The flowers and fields are so verdant – it’s almost like we are in North Carolina! We’ve been able to do so many outdoor activities and games that we wouldn’t normally be able to do in the afternoons, especially in July! Some Closing Thoughts on Term 2

Before we jump into our Term 3 updates, we wanted to take a brief moment to again thank all of our Term 2 campers for creating our aerial “CBS” photo on Closing Day!
