Term 3: Happy 4th of July!

The Fourth of July at Camp Balcones Springs is always a special occasion. We interrupt our regular programming to ensure our camp Fourth of July is an event like no other! This year, we had an epic parade during Phunanza, featuring 10 camp vehicles – golf carts, mules , convertibles, trucks, and trailers all decorated for the festivities. Candy and red, white, and blue beads were thrown to parade watchers at the Thicket area. The second time the parade marched through, onlookers were greeted with popsicles – AND water balloons! Term 3: Boys’ Cookout, A Night in Paris, & Kayaking Class Highlights!

This term’s Boys’ Cookout was especially special because it was held at our brand new Papa’s Pool! Boy campers enjoyed all-beef hot dogs and the new cook-out favorite, grilled pita pizzas. As always, the real thrill came from our legendary chili cook-off. This year, the boys got creative with their chili recipes, selecting from an array of ingredients and some exciting mystery items: hot dog meat, pepperoni, and even caramel sauce! Term 3: 1..2..Term 3 Let's Go!

Term 3 at Camp Balcones Springs– our unique three-week session of summer camp – has kicked off with a ton of PHUN! On Sunday night, we began camp with our classic camp tradition – team initiation – where old campers put on their red, green, purple, or blue to welcome new faces to Camp Balcones Springs onto one of four camp teams, the Texas Rangers, Rough Riders, Silver Spurs, or Texas Rangers. Term 2 Endings: A Night of Dreams, Mission Impossible, & Rodeo Round Up!

The last few days of Term 2 were packed full of absolute PHUN! First, the campers entered the Rio Grande dining hall to a dream state, high in the clouds with neon lights and fog! The moon hung above the dance floor, and the music was heavenly! Term 2: A Night in Paris & the Wizard of Oz at Camp Balcones Springs

This past week has featured some amazing evening programs at Camp Balcones Springs, taking us across the pond for Olympic celebrations and into the storybook wonders of a classic movie – all in one week! From Nutella crepes to a French fry bar to an illuminated Eiffel Tower, Paris with a side of CBS felt truly magical!
