Thursday, July 1st, at CBS was an important day of the term: Team Spirit Comp Day! Every last Thursday of each session, one day before the Amazing Race, our four camp teams – the Texas Rangers, Rough Riders, Lone Stars, and Silver Spurs – gather together to perform three sets of two-minute-long group cheers to a judging panel. The winning teams are awarded a large chunk of points that contribute to the overall term point totals that give teams a head-start on Amazing Race day. Monday, June 28th, was an all-around exciting day at CBS! First off, we introduced a brand-new activity – a floating DIY spa on Lake Ted! Campers, counselors, and even Director Ms. Christine, made DIY avocado hair conditioner, honey and sea salt lip blams, jojoba oil facial massages, and shea butter cuticle conditioner! After pampering themselves completely, everyone jumped into the lake for a refreshing cleanse. :) Down at the beach, one of our favorite camp activities is tie-dying! Today’s activities found some campers mastering the basics of “roughing it,” while others expanded their cultural palettes by learning dances from around the globe! C Compound girl campers learned all about the basics survival skills (and even roasted marshmallows!) from our resident expert, Master Survivalist Daniel Adams. Friday, June 25th, started with Fratboy Friday, a new theme day created by Blanton Cabin in the spirit of our famous Tutu Tuesday. Blanton campers donned backwards hats and struck funny poses reminiscent of college jocks. In our ceramics major, girl campers created beads that they will be able to use to make jewelry. The campers designed, molded, and then fired their beads in the camp kiln! In our Ropes activity, boy campers climbed the pamper pole, our tallest structure. Opening Day Term 2!

Happy Term Two! Term Two’s opening day this Sunday featured some epic “firsts” for Camp Balcones Springs. For starters, we welcomed our very first limousine to opening day drop-off, as the elegant ride made its way around our Circle Drive. We also spotted a car fully decked out in Silver Spurs purple – proving just how deep our camp team allegiances run!
