Fourth of July at Camp Balcones Springs!

Our first full day of Term 3 is in the books, and boy was it a special one! We went through our usual first day of camp activities (described below) in addition to hosting an epic Fourth of July celebration! At Camp Balcones Springs, we structure camp activities into major and minor class days. Every other day, boy campers have their major classes – classes they have signed up for and will repeat throughout the term. On the alternating days, girl campers have their major classes. Term 3 Camp Team Initiation & First Day!

It’s finally here! Term 3 – the longest of our sessions, clocking in at a full three weeks – of summer camp at Camp Balcones Springs has begun! We kicked off the first day of Texas summer camp with costumed staff singing camp songs at our gates as families dropped off their boy and girl campers. Today, we are wrapping up our coverage of Term 2 with an overview of our Arts & Crafts program, a recap of Thursday’s impromptu Water Wars, and Friday most iconic Camp Balcones Springs activities – the Amazing Race and Rodeo Roundup! On the next two Camp Balcones Springs blogs, we will be recapping the last week of Term 2 before reporting back tomorrow (Monday) about our Term 3 Opening! Last Monday, camp – like much of the Austin area – was graced with a large amount of rainfall. Today on the Balcones Springs blog, we have a Weekend Update for you, covering all of the camp events from this past weekend, including Night Team Competition, our Sunday Baseline service, and the Ted 10,000 Swim and Road Relay!
